Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole feels Paul Pogba's time at Manchester United is coming to an end.
Cole stated following United's 1-0 Premier League victory over West Ham on Saturday that he believes the Red Devils are still missing in midfield. He stated, "
‘’We'll I agree that the midfield is an area that needs to be strengthened. I enjoy McTominay, but there needs to be something else in there, a distinct component. Bruno Fernandes isn't the man, and I can't have that. I believe he's pressed well in this deeper role, and he's looked to probe. But I believe the issue with Man United supporters is that they are assessing it based on previous great teams. This is a new generation, a new team, and I believe they've performed admirably today."
Pogba's time at Manchester United, according to Cole, has come to an end, and the club should attempt to replace him as soon as feasible. He elaborated: "Someone else in there, I believe, should push them [McTominay and Fred] while also complementing the balance. Pogba, in my opinion, does not add anything to this team. His race takes place at Manchester United. I've thought Bruno Fernandes is just a percentage better than Pogba in every area since he walked through the door, and there's only room for one of them in the team due to egos. So I believe his time has come to an end. He's in desperate need of a fresh challenge. Bruno Fernandes, on the other hand, is a huge fan of mine."
Since joining Manchester United from Juventus in 2016, Pogba has failed to live up to expectations. The Frenchman has gone on to make 219 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions, scoring 38 goals and assisting on 49 occasions.
The midfielder is scheduled to become a free agent at the conclusion of the season, and a move away from Old Trafford has been suggested. The Frenchman has been linked with moves to Juventus, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Cole on Declan Rice joining Manchester United: "I wouldn't go."
Cole was asked if Declan Rice, a West Ham midfielder, could be the answer to Manchester United's midfield woes. Former Chelsea player Jose Mourinho believes the midfielder would be better off at Manchester City. "I wouldn't go if I were Declan Rice, no," he explained. I believe you run the risk of going and not winning any awards. If Man City were on the table, I believe you would choose them because they have consistently delivered trophies in recent years, and I believe Declan would want that. But, in my opinion, there's no reason for him to leave West Ham if the club's trajectory continues to be positive, but that is a decision for him and the owners to make. To take West Ham to the next level, he needs better players around him."
